Attaching the Exhaust Manifolds

I tried to find an example of the DB5 engine where the Exhaust Manifolds were this ‘cream’ color provided with the stage. Other than perhaps a ceramic coating or high-temp tape, it seemed to be a weird color. Therefore, I first sanded off the mold lines on my Manifolds:

Then, I airbrushed them with some Tamiya X-10 Gun Metal acrylic paint:

Step 1

Retrieve your Cylinder Head (Lower Part) assembly from the previous stage. Note how the posts and pin of each Exhaust Manifold line up to these specific holes in the side of the Cylinder Head.

For reference, the Rear Exhaust Manifold has the longer pipes:

Step 2

Fit the pin and posts of the Front Exhaust Manifold into the matching holes of the Cylinder Head (Lower Part), orienting it as shown:

Step 3

Secure this Exhaust Manifold into place from the inside with two (2) PS28 screws:

Step 4

In the same way as before, fit the Rear Exhaust Manifold into the matching holes of the Cylinder Head (Lower Part), orienting it as shown:

Step 5

Secure this Exhaust Manifold into place from the inside with two (2) more PS28 screws:

Assembling the Cylinder Head

Steps 6-7

Fit the tab of the Water Pump to this matching post of the Cylinder Head (Lower Part) orienting it as shown, then secure it into place with one (1) DS01 screw.

I believe this part is actually the Fuel Pump of our engine. Therefore, just to add a bit of color to the vacuum solenoid and bolt heads, I used my Metallic Gold Sharpie to ‘paint’ these bits:

This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:

Steps 8-9

Retrieve your Cylinder Head (Upper Part) assembly from Stage 009. Fit the two posts of this Upper Part to the matching posts of the Cylinder Head (Lower Part), orienting it as shown:

Step 10

Secure these Cylinder Head assemblies together from the bottom with two (2) DS01 screws:

Thoughts

I am glad I painted the Exhaust Manifolds, it adds another layer of detail to our already highly-detailed DB5 engine! Keep this Cylinder Head assembly nearby as we will need it again in Stage 014.
