“In this stage you’ll assemble the front right suspension by fixing the lower control arm, fitting the shock absorber and attaching the wheel hub.




Materials: The Lower Right Control Arm, Shock Absorber Spring, and Pins is metal, but the other parts are plastic.


Assembling the Front Right Suspension

Step 1

Fit a D-shaped end of the Anti-Roll Bar Connection to this matching recess of the Lower Right Control Arm, as shown.

This Connection is the same at both ends, so it can be fitted either way:

Step 2

Secure this Connection into place from the other side with one (1) PS31 screw:

Step 3

Retrieve your Chassis assembly from the previous stage. Fit the arms of the Lower Right Control Arm into these matching slots of the Right Suspension Mount at the front right corner of the Chassis, orienting it as shown:

Step 4

Secure the front arm of the Lower Right Control Arm into place with a Pin inserted from the front.

These Pins should always be installed smooth end first:

TIP: Try your best not to accidentally push the Pin into the nearby slot of the Suspension Mount as I did (more than once). If you do, the Upper Control Arm and Suspension Mount will need to be removed to retrieve the Pin:

This can be very tricky. Not only do we need to align the Control Arm with the holes in the Suspension Mount, but we need to squeeze this Pin through both parts until it is flush on both sides. It is very likely that you will need some sort of metal tool to press the Pin through – in my case, I used a pair of duck bill pliers:

Steps 5-6

In the same way, secure the rear arm of the Lower Right Control Arm into place with a Pin inserted from the rear:

Steps 7-8

Fit the eyelet of the Shock Absorber Rod into this gap of the Lower Right Control Arm as shown, align the holes, and press a Pin through both parts from the front to secure them together.

NOTE: For clarity, I temporarily turned my Chassis assembly upside down so I could show this step better:

Step 9

Slide the Shock Absorber Spring down onto the Rod, as shown:

Step 10

Fit the Shock Absorber Cylinder into the open end of the Spring and down onto the Shock Absorber Rod, as shown:

Step 11-12

Rotate the free end of the Shock Absorber Cylinder and fit its eyelet into this notch of the Right Suspension Mount, as shown:

Steps 13-14

Secure the Shock Absorber Cylinder to the Suspension Mount from the rear with the final Pin, as shown:

Step 15-16

Retrieve your Right Wheel Hub assembly from the previous stage. Fit the short posts of the Right Wheel Hub into the eyelets at the end of each Control Arm, orienting the Hub as shown:

Step 17-18

Secure the Upper Control Arm to the Wheel Hub from above with one (1) DS24 screw.

This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:

Step 19

Secure the Lower Control Arm to the Wheel Hub from below with one (1) more DS24 screw:


We now have the first part of our front suspension connected to the Chassis! When the next pack arrives, we will mirror this work on the left side, then move on to the steering components. I can’t wait!
